PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING

The GDPR is the new EU Regulation on the protection of personal data which will replace the Directive 95/46/EC and will be in force throughout the European Union on 25 May 2018. The purpose of the GDPR is to harmonize and strengthen the protection of privacy and personal data in the EU. To make sure that we comply with the requirements of the GDPR and that we process your data fairly and lawfully, we need your consent.

STOREP, the Italian Association for the History of Political Economy is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and sponsor teaching and research activities on the history of political economy, in all their manifestations.
The seat of the Association is in Padova, University of Padova, Department of Economics, Via del Santo 33, 35123 Padova, Italy, whereas its operative office is in Torino, Università di Torino, Dipartimento di Economia e Statistica “Cognetti de Martiis”, Campus Luigi Einaudi, 10153 Torino, Italy. Being in the EU, it is obliged to collect and process all personal data in accordance with GDPR (even for those not establish within the EU).

What categories of personal data are we collecting from you?
We process and collect data about names, country and mail addresses of STOREP members, as well as of individuals who have worked with STOREP in the past, have signed up to STOREP newsletters, attended our events, or expressed interest in STOREP activities. Personal data are kept as long as you declare your contrariness to keep being informed about the Association’s activities.

How do we use your data?
We use your personal data for sending you newsletters, updates on our Association and event invitations. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is your consent.
In principle, we won’t disclose your personal data to any third party. As a matter of exception, we may disclose your personal data to companies which provide services to our Association, which will act on the behalf and under the written instructions of our Association and are not allowed to use your data for their benefit or disclose this to third parties. Also, we will use your personal data for keeping you up to date until you unsubscribe from our recipients’ list. You will be adequately and immediately informed about any change in both the categories of data collected and in the use we make of them.

Security of your data
The security of your personal data is of the utmost importance for us.
STOREP is committed to maintaining the highest technical and organizational measures to protect the integrity, confidentiality and availability of your personal data and to protect them against unauthorized access, misuse, disclosure, unlawful destruction or loss.

What are your rights and where can you address them?
You have the right to request access, erasure, rectification, restriction and the right to request from us to send to you or others of your choice your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. Also, you can at any time withdraw your consent for the use of your data for the Association’s activities. You can exercise your rights above by sending an email to segretario@storep.org.
If you consider that our Association violates the applicable data protection laws when processing your personal data, please let us know. Of course, in such a case you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority http://www.garanteprivacy.it/.

This page also describes the methods of management of the website with reference to the processing of the personal data of users who consult it. This is information which is not gathered to be associated with identified data subjects, but which by its very nature could, through processing and association with data held by others, enable the users to be identified. This category of data includes the “IP addresses” or domain names of the computers used by users who visit the website, the addresses in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) format of the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used in submitting the request to the web server, the dimensions of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the state of the response given by the web server (success, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the user’s operating system and IT environment. These data are used for the sole purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information on the use of the website and to check the correct operation of the website. These data could be used to ascertain responsibility in the case of computer crime which harms the website.

The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of emails to the addresses indicated in the website entail the subsequent acquisition of the applicant’s e-mail address as well as any other personal data included within the message, necessary to respond to the requests. These data are also used for the sole purpose of performing the service or task requested and are communicated to third parties only when necessary for this purpose.

USE OF COOKIES

A cookie is an information text string placed on an internet user’s hard drive. It is generated by a web page server, which is basically the computer that operates a web site.
