For this reason we believed that the time was ripe in which to propose together, colleagues from the world of Italian and international universities, a manifesto that illustrates the generative potential, satisfaction and richness of the meaning of life, of a sustainable response that can come from our discipline to today’s challenges.

Under (Re)construction: Rethinking How We Think, Teach, and Publish (STOREP Associazione Italiana per la Storia dell’Economia Politica)
15 May 2026, 17.00-18.15

Chair:
Mario Aldo Cedrini

Speakers:
– Saverio Maria Fratini, Roma Tre University
– Marcella Corsi and Giulia Zacchia, Sapienza University of Roma
– Mario Aldo Cedrini and Angela Ambrosino, University of Torino

The present state of economic theory and the revival of the surplus approach

Saverio Maria Fratini, Università Roma Tre.

Diversifying economics: teaching economics from a feminist perspective

Marcella Corsi and Giulia Zacchia, Sapienza Università di Roma

A not-so-modest proposal for reforming academic publishing in economics

Mario Cedrini and Angela Ambrosino, Università di Torino. Organized by the Italian Association for the History of Political Economy (STOREP), the session brings together historians of economic thought interested in economic-methodology perspectives, working at the boundaries, so to speak, of the discipline itself. Three proposals are put forward to rethink economics, drawing on the growing variety that currently characterizes the discipline, but also to reconstruct it on firmer foundations, so that pluralism may become a permanent, rather than incidental, feature of economics.

Program download (pdf)

STOREP is pleased to promote the 3rd International Conference “Renaissance in Economics.
