    STOREP Grant 2023

We are pleased to announce the launch of a STOREP research grant of 3,000€ for 2023. The Association’s members are invited to submit innovative small-scale research projects that fall into one or more of the following three categories: research projects in the history of political economy, the history of economic thought, and the history of economics; research projects exploring economic issues on an inter/transdisciplinary basis; research projects explicitly promoting heterodox approaches to economic theory. 2 Feb 2023

    Luigi L. Pasinetti (1930-2023)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Luigi Pasinetti. For many of us he was a master and also a friend. Together with Pierangelo Garegnani he led the classical-Keynesian School. The void he leaves should stimulate each of us to take it upon ourselves to restore, for the younger generations, the taste for knowledge that we inherited from him. Luigi L. Pasinetti (Zanica, 12 September 1930 – Varese, 31 January 2023) was one of the best-known and appreciated Italian economists. After graduating in Economics at Università Cattolica di Milano, he studied at Cambridge, Oxford, and Harvard Continua / Read more →

The Impact on Social Welfare in Advanced Economies By Giovanni Scarano December 2022 London, Routledge DOI: https://doi.org/10.4324/9781003223221 214 pp. Webpage Financialisation has become a widely discussed and debated term leading to a plurality of perspectives, but no fixed definition or single reading. This book presents a critical exploration and review of the current literature on financialisation, focusing on the financialisation of NFCs and its possible implications for the macroeconomic and financial stability of advanced countries. Starting from this critical analysis, it proposes some new readings of the process of financialisation, linking it directly, on the one hand, Continua / Read more →

Cfp: “Pierre Clastres’s La Société contre l’État, a Semi-centenary Estimate” (Annals of the Fondazione Luigi Einaudi)

Pierre Clastres’s La Société contre l’État, a Semi-centenary Estimate In 1974, French Anthropologist Pierre Clastres published La Société contre l’État. Recherches d’Anthropologie Politique. The book aimed to contribute to developing a new Political Anthropology, focusing on the issue of power and discussing the question of the political dimension in primitive societies. What is power? Different regimes of political organization do indeed exist, among them regimes in which power, though it manifests itself everywhere, is nonetheless noncoercive, not submissive to the State model. What matters most, Clastres explains, is that these regimes, characterizing primitive societies, actively avoid the State model: they are societies against the state. How Continua / Read more →
