2020 Young Scholars Awards: Deadline approaching

This year, two young scholars (instead of one only) will receive an award of 1000 € (instead of 500) each for the best articles presented at the STOREP Annual Conference (held online on October 1-3). Applications, with CV and final version of the papers, must reach the STOREP secretary (via email, to segretario@storep.org) by December 15, 2020. Only papers co-authored by no more than 3 researchers, who all meet the requirements for belonging to the “Young” scholars, are eligible for the Young Scholar Awards. Epidemics and pandemics have a devastating effect on all sections of society, as evidenced most recently in the recent COVID-19 crisis. These events invariably have a disproportionate effect on some sections of the population. Emerging evidence indicates that while women often tend to be less vulnerable to the disease in terms of morbidity and mortality (barring comorbidities), they bear a disproportionately larger brunt of the economic and social disruptions that accompany these public health disasters.
